I made a mistake with my new build on the Asrock deskmeet X300. I ordered a 5600 but it never arrived, so I went to Best Buy and bought a 5600X instead. It gets very hot, and I think the processor is too powerful for my setup. My 120mm AIO would work better, but it might damage the case if I try to fit it without modifying it. It runs smoothly at idle around 55°C with a 1.1V and 3850 undervolt, but stress testing pushes it into the high 80s and then I shut it down. Would these problems still appear with a 5600 or 5500? I’m unsure if I can return the 5600X after installing it. Maybe my undervolting settings are off. Any suggestions would be great. I don’t need peak performance, but I feel like I wasted a lot of money on something that’s not working well. The specs include an iGPU board and a 500W power supply, 3600/CCX RAM, a Ryzen 5600X with Wraith Stealth, and a 1TB Intel NVMe SSD. I also have an RX 6600 GPU.

High 80s performance is acceptable for 5000 series chips. They can handle temperatures up to 90, after which they should slow down to protect themselves. The wraith stealth works well with a 5600x and would outperform any 120mm AIO. Your idle temps are a bit elevated but not extreme. If you had my setup, I’d try using the PC for a while and check for problems. If overheating occurs, removing the cooler, reapplying thermal paste, and reinstalling it might help lower temperatures.
