Hello everyone,

I’m planning to assemble a high-performance desktop computer for personal use. Gaming isn’t a priority, and Wi-Fi isn’t required. The new system will be directly linked to a 1,000M up/down FTTH fiber connection.

During my online search, I found the following parts:
1. Motherboard
ASUS PRIME B650M-A WIFI II DDR5
Socket AM5 mATX Motherboard
Specifications:
PRIME B650M-A offers impressive capabilities such as a 6-layer PCB, DDR5 support, PCIe 5.0 M.2, Realtek 2.5Gb Ethernet, USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, front USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C®, BIOS FlashBack®, and DisplayPort/VGA/HDMI. It also includes Aura Sync, Fan Xpert 2+, which will enhance...
www.asus.com

2. CPU
AMD Ryzen 7 8700F Processor 8C 16T Socket AM5

3. RAM
G.SKILL 64GB Kit (2x32GB)
Ripjaws S5 Black F5-6400J3239G32GX2-RS5K
DDR5 6400MHz Memory

4. SSD Drives (2 units)
a. (for Ubuntu Linux)
Samsung 2TB 990 EVO Plus MZ-V9S2T0BW M.2 2280
PCIe 4.0 x4 / 5.0 x2 NVMe 2.0 SSD
(for virtualization)

b. (for Windows 10 Home)
Samsung 1TB 990 EVO Plus MZ-V9S1T0BW M.2 2280
PCIe 4.0 x4 / 5.0 x2 NVMe 2.0 SSD

What does “5.0 x2 NVMe 2.0” mean?

5. Graphics card
A 4K graphics card is already available
Model: TU116 [GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER]
Manufacturer: NVIDIA Corporation

6. Power supply unit is ready (new)
Corsair CXM series
Model CX550
Power rating: 550 watts

The new PC will be capable of running both Ubuntu Linux and Windows 10 Home, allowing dual booting. Virtualization software such as Oracle VirtualBox will be installed on the Linux partition.

I have no fixed budget. I’m seeking a robust desktop for my needs.
Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you in advance.

AMD Ryzen 7 8700F Processor 8C 16T Socket AM5 I would pick something with an iGPU on it, in case you have to deal with discrete GPU related issues. Ripjaws S5 Black F5-6400J3239G32GX2-RS5K Ram kit has X.M.P on it, I'd look at a ram kit that has AMD's E.X.P.O advertised on it. The sweet spot would be DDR5-6000MHz with tight latencies. CX550 Would look into a higher quality PSU. What does it mean "5.0 x2 NVMe 2.0"? It means the drive will operate at PCIe4.0x4 speeds or if in a PCIe5.0 slot at x2 speeds. You won't be able to tell the difference even if you tried. They will show up on (synthetic)benchmarks but you won't notice that speed in day to day computing/tasks. I have no preset budget. Then that means we can suggest higher priced parts without concern? Please stylize your thread with info asked of in this thread; *How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice* How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice First off, respect where respect is due - this is an adaptation of the Animal's *How To Ask For New Build Advice* Sticky. I created this because there's a lot of posts nowadays asking for upgrade advice both on here and on the CPU forums, and I feel... forums. inclusive of your location, your budget and your preferred site for purchase, so users here can provided (tweaked)suggestions accordingly.

Hi lutfij,
Thanks for your response.
I would choose the following:
CORSAIR 64GB Kit (2x32GB) VENGEANCE CMK64GX5M2B6000C30 DDR5 6000MHz Memory
CPU
AMDAMD Ryzen 7 8700G Processor 8C 16T Socket AM5
Ryzen 7 8000G review: An integrated GPU that can outperform a dedicated graphics card at a reasonable cost.
Ryzen 8000G review: An integrated GPU that can outperform a dedicated graphics card at a reasonable cost.
The CPU performs well, but the GPU is impressive; the AM5 platform seems to be the issue.
arstechnica.com
It appears this CPU includes an integrated GPU—could you clarify?
Thanks.
