Need guidance on boosting performance? I9-9900K with RTX 2080 Super can be optimized effectively.
hello everyone, i'm working with an i9-9900k and a 2080 super. i'm trying to optimize it but haven't figured out where to begin. i have an asus board and a usd with cpu presets for tuning, but the system isn't running smoothly. the corsair h100i is paired, which is better than stock but not ideal. my 750 gold psu feels like it's showing signs of wear, and the new cod is making the system feel older than expected. i'm looking for some guidance on getting things stable.
There are numerous tutorials on YouTube about the 9900k. Many are quite detailed yet lengthy. A 600w power supply could be insufficient.
Great choice! I used a 9900K and an 2080 Super with Corsair 750W. I boosted the CPU to 5.1GHz and added +75MHz to the core plus +800MHz to the memory using MSI Afterburner.
I don’t recall, I upgraded afterward. I watched a YouTube tutorial, installed an NH-D15 cooler. What I remember is it didn’t significantly affect the CPU, so I lowered its voltage to 1.25v and managed to keep my CPU at 55-60°C while gaming. The 9900k struggled to match my new RTX 4080 even at 5.1ghz. The GPU overclocking made the biggest impact with the 2080 Super configuration.
I just looked at some YouTube guides about overclocking. Your setup will need a lot of power to get anything useful. Most of the examples are solid, but you’ll need to push it hard. Der8auer’s video is good, though he always gives clear examples. You might have to boost it further to run smoothly with a 2080s chip. Aim for around 4.6 performance; higher speeds give better results but also more heat. On gaming sites, I’d set it to about 65c on a custom loop and 80c rendering. Keeping the 3090 on 1440 bit code isn’t great—considering its updates and settings, it’s not optimized well.
