Need guidance on 7800x3d cooler?
Hello, thank you for reaching out. I recently purchased a 7800x3d and it’s currently paired with a noctua nhu12a. My temperatures sit around 40°C during idle, but while playing (currently in Baldurs Gate 3) the hwinfo shows average temps near 65°C with peaks up to 80°C. I haven’t changed any BIOS settings except turning off the built-in GPU and enabling Expo. I’m open to suggestions for a cooler that could perform better, especially one suitable for fitting on the top of a Bequiet 500fx case. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
What are your temperatures in Cinebench R23? You can perform a throttle test and then verify the readings using HWinfo64 or similar tools.

It works well. Have you experimented with PBO in advanced mode, negative curve, and curve optimizer? (undervolt)
I don't have that skill. I'm not familiar with adjusting particular system settings.
Additionally, I think the temperatures are just right and typical. I wouldn’t worry too much about them.
This guide covers many topics but misses the section on power limits. For a 7800x3D, the recommended settings are important to follow.
