Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum and decided it was time to finally join even though I'm addicted to Linus' videos... I'm looking for advice. I recently decided, finally, to build my new computer and was all happy to order and assemble all pieces. My main setup is as follow : Asus ROG Strix B650e-e gaming wifi (currently running bios Version 1602) Ryzen 7 7800x3d 2x G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO Series (AMD Expo) 32 Go (2 x 16 Go) RX 7900 XTX 1000W PSU Needless to remind the current issues with Asus boards and Ryzens CPUs... my system has been encountering a number of issues I was so far unable to correct. 1. I'm unable to turn on at all EXPO, when I do, the PC just doesn't want to boot and I must all the time clear the CMOS. Even when doing so, I get an error code 64 on the MB and must reboot and reclear a few times the CMOS. 2. When on default settings without EXPO, sometimes the PC still doesn't want to boot and shows again error code 64. It just occurs randomly after the pc has been running correctly... when I turn it off and back on it just won't go back on... 3. I did a few installs of windows as I get random freezes and stuttering. It's rare but happens and it's been bothering me. (CPU temps are normal...) I did a number of memtests and all came back without issues. I'm actually considering that the MB might be faulty and I do worry about the current situation with Asus. I soon will not be able to return the card in terms of amazon guarantee and I wanted to have your feedback on my issues. I'm also wondering if I should just simply send it back and buy a new MB from MSI or Gigabyte instead. If so, I was wondering which board would support my system and be most adequate.. Let me know what you think, I'll be happy to read your opinions and recommendations.. Thank you

Memory testing is quite time-consuming. I'm uncertain about the platform, but on older Intel systems I had to adjust some settings and tweak the memory controller voltage, then manually fine-tune the memory configuration for better stability. It didn't match the performance of xmp, which was due to CPU constraints. AMD might have additional requirements you need to meet; what speed are you aiming for? The memory may default to a lower speed after a few reboots. Were you testing the memory during that process? In your current setup, steering clear of Asus could be wise. If you're using Amazon and Windows, simply returning it might be a safer choice.

The RAM operates without issues at 4800 MHz. Any adjustments cause it to fail to start up completely. I've followed multiple guides, but even small tweaks stop the boot process entirely.

It appears the system runs at a basic DDR5 speed, and there might be some instability issues.

I replaced the RAM twice as I first believed it was faulty, but after swapping the sticks, it still behaved the same. I’m unsure how to verify the MB and CPUs, but I thought it might be the MB that was the issue.

The GamersNexus recent video about Asus issues really caught my attention. I highly recommend considering a different supplier for your motherboard if possible.

Indeed, I'll quote from now on. I'm hoping for some more feedback.. but I'm currently thinking about changing MB..

I agree your thoughts on MSI and gigabyte are reasonable. There aren't many reports from those suppliers about motherboard problems, especially compared to Asus for this model.

I agree, but I’d also like to verify if my logic holds or if the problem might be elsewhere.

In general, the testing you've conducted appears thorough and focused on eliminating other causes, especially concerning memory performance. Beyond the particular issues Asus is facing with this generation of motherboards—especially at EXPO—your analysis makes sense.
