Need feedback and thoughts on a new gaming PC.
I aim to construct a new gaming PC by the close of this year or early next year. My gaming setup will run at 1440p with titles like remastered editions of Mass Effect and Crysis, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and possibly Fortnite, Battlefield, and Call of Duty. I might also handle basic drone photo/video editing and produce YouTube content videos. I’ve completed my research and made several adjustments to component choices recently, but I would appreciate any feedback, recommendations, or advice regarding dependable, faster, or superior parts that are more affordable. I’m particularly interested in potential safety concerns—especially the melting plug issues with Nvidia and a few Radeon GPUs—and any unknown problems so I can finalize my selections for a fast and dependable system. Please note that except for enabling AMD EXPO on the RAM, I do not intend to overclock. Thanks in advance.
Honestly, even trying to pick parts or assemble something now isn't very sensible unless you intend to act quickly. The availability and cost of any component can shift dramatically from week to week, making it risky to proceed without a clear timeline. It’s much better to wait until you have a week or so before ordering, otherwise you might end up wasting time building something that no longer fits due to outdated parts or changed prices.
Here’s a revised version maintaining the original structure and details:
You can opt for a dependably constructed 850W unit such as the Montech Century II 850W;

For drone photo or video editing tasks, you might also consider using a basic setup; creating YouTube content videos is something I can handle.
When it comes to apps, switching to an RTX 5070 Ti would be ideal if you plan to use Adobe's software or VEGAS Pro.
Avoid using OEM license keys since they become linked to your motherboard’s BIOS chip. Should you need to replace the motherboard later, you’ll require a fresh license key to activate the operating system.
Please note that the r
on on the Noctua fans indicates the rounded frames—consider checking the non-r
SKU for fans if needed.
The thread has been moved from the Components section to the Systems section.
Look for an SSD with DRAM cache. Listen to the stock fans before purchasing aftermarket fans. Nvidia for video editing and don't worry about that cable. You have a ATX 3.1 psu and your case is larger than a cracker box. The melting cables issue was a Darwin test imo for peeps that should stick to consoles. Thank you for the feedback. I've updated my parts list and placed the components on order.
I will begin the process of building my new gaming PC this week. I have already purchased the parts. However, upon further reading, I noticed that the XFX Radeon 9070 XT GPU I purchased requires an 800 watt power supply at minimum. I purchased a 1000 watt Be Quiet PSU. The information on PCPartPicker.com says I need a 610 watt power supply. I purchased the 1000 watt PSU so that I have some wiggle room in case I need more power in a future upgrade. Except for overclocking the RAM to a 6000 MHz memory speed, I don't plan to overclock. For safety, before I begin my build, I would like to know if the setup I have will work or if I need to change to a different PC part. The last thing that I need is for my new PC to suffer electrical related damage or go up in smoke. The links to the mentioned parts from Amazon, the manufacturers, and my PC part list are listed below:
