It isn't necessary for it to be a PCI card; there are also excellent USB alternatives available.

The Intel combo Wi-Fi/M.2 card relies solely on PCIe for its wireless function, while Bluetooth communicates through a USB controller. If you prefer not to use a USB device, you can use an adapter to link it to one of the card’s internal headers.
