I assembled a computer a few months back and connected an Ethernet cable. The connection and speed were satisfactory, but now I experience a weak signal with the yellow flashing light. Another computer is using a different cable and it functions properly. My motherboard is an ASRock B450 Pro4. It’s worth mentioning that when I power off my PC, the modem displays a green light, but when I turn it on again, it returns to flashing yellow. I suspect the issue lies with the Ethernet port on my computer or the other end of the cable. I’ve restarted the modem and swapped both connections, but nothing has changed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's likely the cable is the issue. I don't understand why your mobile Ethernet stops working suddenly.

A few new models for B450 mobos have been released recently. Is this related to the issue you're experiencing?

You don't require drivers for your Ethernet to function. It installs automatically, and your network operates smoothly after installing Winblows 10. You won’t need to visit the manufacturer’s site or download their drivers; it’s quite straightforward. I find it risky to mess with hardware when you can let Windows manage it. I’ve never installed any motherboard drivers in years and everything works perfectly out of the box. Perhaps you should remove the ones you installed and trust Windows to handle everything.

If you're using Windows 10, you don't need to install anything special—it works perfectly. No hassle digging or crawling around.

I haven’t set anything up yet, so I think I need to purchase a new cable. It’s a fresh one, but I had to run it through the ceiling now. Thanks for all your assistance!

It seems you're pointing out a common misconception. Windows may sometimes run compatible drivers, but they aren't always optimal or reliable. There are many cases where Windows 10 fails to recognize and install the proper drivers.

Keep the cable away from fluorescent lights and power wires, as they can disrupt the signal. For longer runs around power lines, consider using shielded twisted pair rather than unshielded. If the distance is only a few dozen feet, it’s likely fine, but remember this tip.
