Need assistance with your Xbox wireless adapter?
Hey there, just checked out the Xbox Wireless Adapter. It works perfectly when paired, but I'm not sure if what's happening is typical. When setting it up, I connected it to a USB port on my PC about five feet away with a clear line of sight. After pressing the sync button on both the adapter and controller, they matched up fine. Once I turned off the PC, the controller also shut down, which seems normal. The issue comes when I power on the PC from OFF—then the adapter appears dark and unresponsive. When I turn it back on, it flashes as if trying to connect, but stays inactive. Pressing the sync button doesn't work at all. After reinserting the adapter, it resumes normal behavior. Could this be a problem with the adapter itself, my PC, or just how it reacts to power changes? Any suggestions would be great!
You're using the Series One / X / S Adapter correctly. I'm curious about how long the controller stays active after powering up. With three adapters—two connected to PCs and one to a Steamlink—they seem to function without any issues most of the time. It seems they operate smoothly once turned on, and you don't need to manually press any buttons. There have been occasional minor delays or longer blinks, especially after turning them off and back on, but these are rare. I haven't adjusted any settings myself; just plugged them in. Have you noticed if your PC is putting the adapter into sleep mode?
I reviewed the settings and found the attached screenshot. No changes were made. Does the light on your adapter turn on when your PC powers up? Are you in a completely off state or just in sleep mode?
It seems like you're trying to dismiss the issue by saying it usually works when you power on your controller. That's a common approach, but let's explore further if needed.
