My mother's phone has worked fine until now. Suddenly it stopped working and the screen went dark. When I tried to turn it on again, it showed a white screen with bright pixels for half a minute before turning back off. I’m used to fixing tech stuff, so this is unusual. I’m worried we might lose important photos and videos. I know the phone makes sound when charging, but it keeps showing a message that it can’t be reached. It also vibrates when I try to restart it by pressing power and the volume buttons. There’s no water or dust damage, but I’m not sure what’s happening. The screen seems to be broken now—any advice would be greatly appreciated to recover the data!

I'd say send it to a phone repair shop. Sounds like something randomly fried. No guarantee it's still working either. Let this be a good starting point to get a automatic data backup solution

Could the battery be dead or is the charging cable faulty? A damaged cable might charge but not provide enough power for a phone on a fully empty battery. If the screen is functional but the phone still powers on, try contacting her—she should respond via vibration. If successful, data recovery might be possible through dev mode by connecting the phone to a computer or having it inspected at a shop, as suggested by @jaslion. Also, check if the phone has an SD card slot and whether it was set up to save DCIM files on external storage.
