This project has been very supportive, yet things turned bad. I finished assembling everything after watching a tutorial just to double-check. My setup includes an MSI B450 Tomahawk, a Ryzen 5 2600, a 750W Corsair PSU, and two Corsair DDR4 8GB RAM sticks. The motherboard caught fire—first it flickered, then there was a small flame. When I removed the board and power supply, it reignited slightly. I bought the motherboard from Best Buy and the PSU from a friend’s brand new unit. Did I make a mistake? I got the board under two weeks ago but didn’t use any protection, so can I still return it? Are the other parts ruined because I started assembling early? I’m really frustrated.

You definitely need to record this fire event! The PSU seems brand new, and the motherboard can be exchanged.

What should I say to them? I’m worried they won’t give a refund, and I’ve never dealt with something like this before.

It seems I might have been misled about its recent status.

I'm really hesitant to even power it back on—it wasn't a major fire, but it happened close to the SSD drive sockets, one of those small squares.

It was launched in 2008—about twelve years ago! It feels quite old. You might have gotten it because it wasn’t working properly.

Report that it's defective and won't boot. Need better support, especially since the PSU info was misleading. Get a new PSU, preferably quality one.

This isn't a genuine companion, it's a middleman.
