You already have an LGA1155 i5 3570k. Should I upgrade the CPU for gaming, or just change the RAM and CPU to AM4? Switching will require updating your RAM too, especially on a budget.
The 3770K could become too hot when it's new since the CPU isn't attached, while the 2600K has the CPU soldered and avoids this issue.

Put your money where your mouth is. Newer models offer better value than upgraded versions. Use 8 threads (4c8t) or more on Ryzen. They provide a clear upgrade route unlike the 3770k, which requires a better cooler for serious overclocking and lacks future upgrades. Save now, not later—using a 3770k can be nearly maxed out with a stronger GPU and offers no further improvements after that point. If you're on a tight budget, consider a Ryzen 1600/X from Aliexpress to begin. Look for a suitable b450 board that supports Ryzen 3000, as it can be upgraded to different generations later. The Ryzen 1600 works similarly to a 3770 without overclocking but has more cores for demanding tasks. It’s affordable, upgradeable, and sets the stage for future performance gains.
On a tight budget, getting the Hyper 212 and your 3570K can be a solid choice. It offers a decent processor, giving you extra time to plan for a better upgrade later—like switching to a Ryzen-based system.
Which motherboard do you have? I really tried to optimize it—I managed to hit 4.5ghz on the 3570k with almost no voltage drop, around 1.24v atm, and 212 temperatures worked well.
