The image there indicates a Gen 4 connection, meaning Windows and the software assume the motherboard supports this standard.

Have you tried using WD SSDs before? Are you certain it’s not just indicating the SSD supports Gen4 x4?

If this were true, the software should indicate a Gen 3 connection. That's what the top number represents. The bottom displays the actual speed.

Seems like this image wasn't captured. Likely the throttling is correct, but the temperature drop is significant. What was the SSD temperature? I remember my SN850 hit around 80°C but didn’t throttle much (it was placed in the slot beside the GPU).

It's really near Gen 3 X4 performance if it's throttling.

60C shouldn't see it thermal throttling that hard unless there's a setting somewhere that's very conservative. However, a test like Atto or Crystal Disk Mark is more intensive than most workloads, so temperatures would be higher than in day-to-day usage. If you have a temperature monitor open and run a test, what is the highest temperature you see?

You just installed a Windows update and everything seems to be working properly. It might not have been a Windows issue but something else occurred afterward.
