You're working on extending your internet setup across the house. The east side already has the router, but the signal isn't strong enough for the west side. You're considering a 100-foot Ethernet connection to the west and another hub there. Regarding the second part, you're wondering if a shorter 10-foot Ethernet cable from that hub could reach your desktop without causing noticeable delays. Running multiple short cables can help reduce latency, especially if one is heavily used. You mentioned having two 30-meter cables available—this should work well for both the main extension and the backup connection.

Connect the 30m cord into a switch at the end, then link as many cables as needed to various devices from that switch.

To increase coverage, use a WiFi range extender and position it in the center of your home. It will link to your current network, restore full strength, and generate a new SSID for users outside the area. The setup is straightforward (especially with WPS support) and significantly more affordable than installing cables or additional hardware.

It seems you're considering alternatives because your current setup isn't working well due to the thick wall. You might want to explore other options or solutions.

Follow the uplink to the switch as instructed. Latency should remain stable; the switch handles forwarding using hardware at sub-millisecond speeds.

It might not be necessary to add another switch if the second Wi-Fi device is a router or a combined Wi-Fi unit. These usually provide four ports, making it easy to connect directly to your computer.

In contrast, their performance is quite poor.

Your Netgear router is performing exceptionally well, delivering strong signals throughout your home. Over the past year, you haven’t needed to interact with it at all.
