Hey everyone, I had an issue with my system. I was running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, a Samsung MZMPC032HBCD-000H1 SSD with 500GB, and a 4GB RAM module. I upgraded to an 8GB RAM stick for another Lenovo Laptop and thought it would work. Problem 1: Most RAM in India is hard to find or costly, so I added the extra 4GB. But it didn’t recognize the new RAM—it only read the old one. Problem 2: The hard drive still shows up as an SSD, but it can’t be defragmented in Windows Defrag. It’s not formatted properly and shows 4GB unused. The laptop runs fast, but I’m unsure why it’s acting like a boot drive or something old. Should I install an SSD or keep using the existing one? Also, it’s in RAID 0 mode and shows 30GB in Intel Rapid Storage for cache. The FFS is unclear to me. Problem 3: My SSD appears as a drive, but I’m not sure if it’s the boot disk or something from the past. Should I use my SSD or is it being used for something I don’t know? Also, I’m trying to install Radeon Adrenalin but it seems unsupported. Lastly, can you tell me the exact name of my graphics card?
So... a lot of issues here. You mentioned the original RAM amount and what you replaced it with—it seems like there might be a mismatch. Problem 1 sounds like you're confused about the memory configuration and why it's not functioning properly. Problem 2 suggests a tear in the laptop, possibly indicating a heat sink was present beforehand. Problem 3 indicates you got stuck mid-way through fixing the issue, and the SSD with only 4GB left seems unusually full. Problem 4 means you stopped at step 3, which is frustrating.
Apologies, I know it was too much tonask at once and became confusing.. 1st: I had 4 gigs hynix 2rx8 on hp envy.. And had another laptop with a 4 gig 1rx8 Samsung ram which I'm trying to install in envy.. 2nd: I'd like to know what that might be.. Because my intel processor and amd card both have copper pipe on it.. While this was kinda like this with a black protector thing on top that too deliberately not covering it. 3rd: I tried figure it out a bit.. It's ssd in raid 0 acting like a 30 gb cache and my 500gb hard disk is running in 'accelerated' mode, but ssd shows 4gb space unformatted in disk partition.. So, was wondering if I should use it.. Or if I can lower the cache & increase the other partition. 4th: I am unaware of the exact name of my amd 7600m series card. I have specs and everything but don't know the exact name to search in amd website. Like eg. 7610, 7690xt etc. So I'd like to know exactly what card it is.
The problem seems a bit unclear. Part of it comes from older technology. The 2rx8 isn’t something I’m interpreting. You need to know the total memory capacity at what speed, in how many slots for both donor and receiver, both originally and as intended. #2 it could be more than just a CPU—it has code numbers that aren’t readable. You might try searching online for those. Possibly, the chip is a reference card. #3 that space could be where it stores itself. SSDs and HDDs work differently and both mimic an outdated system called drum memory. In any case, SSDs slow down a lot when nearly full. It’s best not to fill them over 80%.
Thanks, I think it's okay to leave the SSD as it is with some extra free space. For RAM, I have two sticks—each 4 GB—different brands (I labeled the 2RX8 and 1RX4 to identify them), and both function. However, only one slot is available, while the other has markings like 1.5V on it (the RAM slot above the SSD). That one doesn’t seem to work. I’ve been trying this since I posted, but it hasn’t helped. Just wanted to make sure I’m not making a mistake. Also, I’m curious about the discrete AMD GPU model this system uses. Even though GPU Z shows 7600m series, the numbers aren’t precise.
