We're examining a total amount on both sides, specifically involving certain cards.

Choose between a GTX 970 ($350 USD/$400 CDN) or an R9 290 ($250 USD/$299 CDN). Both offer comparable performance. The Nvidia model supports DX12, operates cooler, and consumes less power. I wouldn't recommend going lower than this personally.

Consider saving your power supply before deciding on the GTX.

You've got what you need. I'm highlighting that nobody knows how GTA V will perform. Rockstar has a poor track record with PC versions, so it's likely the game could be shaky at launch. Or maybe this is the chance for them to fix things. We should just keep an eye on things and—important—don't pre-order.

I tried Battlefield Hardline on the beta, but it didn’t work well for me!

Was there really talk about GTA V being more than just a simple port? I believed they put in extra effort to make it work smoothly on PC. The main storyline seemed focused on multiplayer cops and robbers, which sounds interesting to me.

There are mods for around 30 billion games featuring FPS cops and robbers. Don't rely on that as a selling point. If the game is glitchy or performs poorly like BF4, avoid it.

Consider what you need next—check your power requirements and compatibility before picking a replacement PSU.

It's a budget power supply, but it delivers sufficient power for both a 970 and a 290 unit. A great gold-rated option is the Seasonic G550, though an upgrade isn't strictly necessary.
