I've been using my 6600k for quite some time now, but I realize it's time to upgrade. I was considering the 3600, but thought I'd hold off until next year's Ryzen release. A friend who loves Craigslist bought an i7-8700 non-K with a 2400 MHz 16GB RAM setup for $200 (pre-pandemic). He offered it to me at that price if I wanted it. While I don't really want to be on a "dead" platform, it would be a big upgrade at a low cost. What do you think? Should we wait for the new Ryzen or take this deal while I have it?

You currently have a 16GB 3200 MHz system. A 2600 MHz would be a step down from an i7-8700, but you can upgrade beyond $200. The price your friend offered was likely based on what he paid for it.
