I refreshed my computer and the Nvidia drivers were rolled back to a February 2023 version. When I asked for updates, it confirmed that was the latest available. I noticed this while playing an emulated game yesterday that ran smoothly at 60fps, but today the audio stuttered and performance dropped to as low as 10fps. I also experienced instability with Sonic Project 06, which was fast at first but slowed to the 80s and then crashed. I checked GeForce Experience and confirmed the older driver. I removed it and reinstalled the new version, but this is now happening again. I’m feeling overwhelmed—I’m questioning whether PC gaming and owning a PC are still right for me anymore. I always dreamed of a full desktop setup, but these issues have made it tough.
Download the latest version and install it still. I’m not sure which database is being verified, but the driver you were using isn’t included. It seems Microsoft, Nvidia, and the card manufacturer are involved, with the manufacturer typically being the least current.
You can instruct the system to avoid updating drivers unless you approve it, and it usually shouldn't install anything without your consent. Where did you get the driver file?
