A short while back, my laptop froze with a blue screen about an infinite boot volume because it fell. After scanning, the hard drive looked normal, so I installed Windows 10 64-bit using a USB stick. When I opened the installer, the main drive was blank. Why? Also, the message said Windows couldn't be installed there.

You only have to remove the existing partitions and build a new one to set up the operating system. The installer will handle the rest and generate the required partitions.

He is right. Just remember, doing this will erase your computer completely.

Assuming it is a mechanical hard drive (one with a spinning disc inside), there is a slight chance that the drop could have damaged the hard drive rendering it to believe there is no data on it. It is a bit hard to tell tho if there is actually no data on there or if the hard drive is just saying that there is nothing on there due to the drop encountered. Hopefully someone with more knowledge on HDDs might read this.

It’s feasible to operate it from a USB drive, though the exact size depends on the version. The guide provided can assist you with that.
