Hello everyone,
my computer specifications are as follows: CPU 10400f, motherboard MSI z490 A-pro, RAM crucial ballistix 16GB at 4000MHz (speed range 16-18-18-38), GPU Evga 980 Ti SC+ ACX 2.0 with OCED +125 cores and +325 memory, AOC 24g2u monitor at 144Hz.

I’m mainly playing Warzone and have followed all optimization guides, but I’m experiencing some lag. The FPS varies between 90 and 145, and most of the time the game runs around 100 to 120. My CPU and GPU usage (from the options menu) are consistently around 9ms to 11ms.

I’m currently using adv.options with GPU memory set to 0.75 and render worker count at 5. In the Task Manager, I see my CPU usage reaches 100% and 2-3 logical processors are at 100%. My GPU stays at 98%, and disk usage spikes from 20-30% to 75-90% most of the time while running above 60% (the game is installed on an HDD).

Do you have any suggestions on why this is happening?
Could there be a driver issue? Should I reinstall GeForce Experience? (I only use it for updates).
Am I experiencing a bottleneck from the GPU or CPU?
Should I consider moving the game to an SSD?

Higher FPS leads to reduced latency and better frame timing. For performance, I favor more frames per second with the lowest possible settings (balancing MSAA, anisotropic, distance, and detail) and using NVIDIA Reflex with boost. However, if you don’t notice the benefits of lower latency—such as noticeable differences between 120fps and 60fps on a fixed 60Hz screen—then VSync won’t be an issue. It’s typical for heavy games at uncapped FPS and high settings to push CPU, GPU, or both to their limits, as long as frames stay updated.

everything is fine, you just need a better GPU to increase the frame rate.

It's typical for your CPU to operate at full capacity, but this doesn't necessarily mean you're losing frames. Checking the video linked can help identify if the bottleneck lies in your logical processor. Uninstalling GeForce Experience and installing a fresh driver might resolve the issue. Your old GPU could be the cause—consider upgrading to something like an 11400f if needed.

not a genuine claim. you might attempt to remove the gpu drivers and switch to the newest versions, but you won't notice any changes. additionally, vSync it, and you'll observe it never reaches 100%. this happens since the frames are unlimited, allowing the processor to operate at its maximum capacity.

consider adjusting the frame limits of the game. this might help reduce latency. if so, apply statistics via afterburner or use the frame limiter option in the game's menu.

Higher FPS leads to reduced latency and better timing. For performance, I favor more frames per second with minimal settings (while keeping msaa, anisotropic, far distance, and sometimes higher detail) and using NVIDIA Reflex with boost. However, if you don’t notice the benefits of lower latency—such as the contrast between 120fps+ and 60fps on a fixed 60Hz screen—then VSync won’t be an issue. It’s typical for heavy games at uncapped FPS and high settings to push CPU, GPU, or both to their limits, ensuring frames stay updated and physics are calculated each frame.

It seems you're considering an upgrade. Would you like to replace your current GPU with a 11400 model, or is monitoring something else on your mind? (I can help with that within 25 euros.)

10700F or 11700F work well because the game will use more cores and benefit from a better GPU. It will make playing at mid to high settings much smoother.

the price is quite high. used items aren't available.
if i'm willing to pay such a big difference, i think i should aim for a 5600x.
i'll try adjusting to 11400 now and if prices fall, i hope to get a 3060ti or better.
