Need assistance with upgrading your RAM?
Hi, you're planning to boost your gaming performance by upgrading your RAM. With a Z390 motherboard and an i7 9700K processor, your current setup is solid. You're considering the Dominator Platinum RGB at 3200MHz, which handles overclocking well. For competitive games like Overwatch, aiming for higher clock speeds can really improve frame rates. While 3200MHz is a strong choice, pushing it further to 4000 or even 4800MHz could yield even better performance, especially if your system supports it. Just ensure your motherboard and other components are compatible with those speeds. Good luck with your upgrade!
Based on your overall system details, purchasing 3200Mhz Dominator Platinum RAM seems unnecessary. Opt for a 16GB budget-friendly kit at around 3200MHz instead. Spending over $40 on RAM likely won’t provide significant benefits and may just slow you down. It’s wiser to allocate that money toward upgrading your CPU and motherboard later. It's straightforward to compare different specs. A 3200mhz clock speed is sufficient when the XMP profile is active. Upgrading to an NVME M.2 card also helps boost performance. Personally, I opt for two Samsung NVME M.2 Evo Plus drives, which offer a noticeable improvement over standard SSDs.
Unfortunately just an opinion. The only time you'll get an FPS increase from an NVME upgrade is when the storage transfer speed becomes the bottleneck during gameplay. If a game is coded to drag textures back and forth from storage (most games load what they need into VRAM), then you may see a difference between an SSD to NVME. Otherwise your games might load faster but you will not get an FPS bump. Especially in e-sports titles like Overwatch.
