I have a ASUS Q87M-E Motherboard. Lately I've been having some "ran out of memory" errors. So I wonder if I arranged my RAM wrong. I have 1x8GB DDR3 1600mhz and 2x4GB DDR3 1333mhz sticks. I configured the BIOS to make all sticks run at 1333mhz and the timing is the same for all. The slots are in this order (as shown in the image): Black-Yellow-Black-Yellow And this is how I put mu ram: 8gb-none-4gb-4gb There is one yellow slot empty. The motherboard has the slots labelled in this order: DIMM A1 DIMM A2 DIMM B1 DIMM B2 I assumed that A & B are the two channels , hence why I put the 2x4GB in B1 and B2 respectively.

Place the 1x8 in the first black channel, then arrange the 2x4s in the two yellow channels. Good luck!

I might attempt it, and I've considered trying it, though I'd like to be certain first.

Ideally, you'd want an 8GB stick in A2 and two 4GB sticks in B1/B2 for optimal memory performance through overclocking. As long as the system starts up correctly and both channels have sufficient capacity, it works fine. If you're encountering "out of memory" messages, it likely means you lack enough RAM, and relocating slots won't resolve the issue.

Based on my observations, these issues usually stem from faulty software or drivers rather than problems with your memory settings. I downloaded your manual from the Asus website (probably in French or Japanese), and your understanding of the channels was accurate.

You're welcome. I confirmed my understanding using the guide. It doesn't need to be Japanese or French, and one of the others has the complete English version. The only issue is the odd naming.

I'll receive three additional 8GB RAM modules, if possible.
