I believe this tool is designed specifically for Linux systems, which is why I included it here. Do you know whether it relies on the CPU or GPU for recording? The 1080p quality can stutter in some games during recording, but it works without issues otherwise. I’m curious if upgrading the GPU will resolve the problem or if a completely new setup is necessary.
Do you have GPU acceleration tools available? For NVIDIA, h264_nvenc is recommended. Also, note that hardware-accelerated encoding on NVIDIA GPUs in Linux relies on FFmpeg, and the nvenc_h64 libraries should be linked with FFmpeg. Consider installing FFmpeg on your system.
how do you verify their installation? I’m stuck because upgrading driver 418 would severely harm my system—it blocks cool features, causes freezing on reboot, and forces the display to 720p. I have a second GPU available if there’s a way to switch it in. @Vector0102
Install the package using the command above. It will handle the installation for you. Driver version V418 should suffice.
Have you explored using OBS for Linux? It offers greater flexibility and better control over encoding. OBS instructions for Linux: https://obsproject.com/wiki/install-instructions#linux NVIDIA details on hardware encoding: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/new...streaming/
It was a terrible experience. I struggled to begin recording, and even when I did, it slowed down my old computer more than Kazam. Everything turned blue, and I couldn't get it back up. 15 fps at 1080p works fine for me, but 60 frames per second is too much. @Vector0102
Are you still running a P104 Mining Card? From what I understand, these cards don't support nvenc. A quick search on the web confirmed this, pointing to an issue on GitHub where it's mentioned that NVIDIA Mining Cards are locked out of nvenc. If that's true, you'll need to rely on your CPU for encoding, which is what's currently being done. For using Intel iGPU, you might need the Intel media driver from their site. Also, consider using SimpleScreenRecorder instead of Kazam.
