Check if it's a Z170 chipset. If supported, a BIOS update may be needed for a 7000 CPU; otherwise, a 6000 series CPU might be required. Also, verify if your motherboard supports BIOS flash updates.

It seems the problem might be related to updating the BIOS. That could be the cause.
