Need assistance with the final details of your Overclock on the 4670k?
I checked the instructions found in the FAQ of the Overclocking subreddit for my 4670k build. I also reviewed several other guides and watched a few videos. I'm still a bit unsure about what to do next, so any guidance would be really helpful. My main goal is to upgrade this setup to squeeze out a little extra speed, but I'm also testing it as a trial for my upcoming PC. I successfully achieved a stable 4.4GHz overclock at 1.265V. Since my cooler is a Hyper 212, I didn't want to increase the voltage beyond 1.3V and couldn't reach 4.5 without exceeding that. So I lowered the core multiplier back to 4.4 and am satisfied with the performance at that setting.
Unfortunately, I couldn't stabilize an uncore over 1.3V without going higher than 1.3V, so I kept it at stock. I tried pushing the core multiplier up to 4.5 but ran into stability problems, which led me to stick with the stock configuration. I've also tested stressing both the Vcore and Vring at override mode to avoid voltage spikes.
Since I couldn't get the uncore overclocked, I focused on the RAM. My system becomes unstable above 1600MHz, so I'm considering raising the VCCIN slightly for better CPU performance. A guide suggested starting with 1.9 and doing the OC from there. My current auto setting is around 1.776V, so would you think a higher manual value would yield more gains?
Regarding RAM speeds, I can't exceed 1600MHz with my Gskill Trident X, but they support XMP up to 2400MHz. I might be able to fine-tune timings without risking Windows issues. For Warzone, boosting timings could help, though it's the most demanding game I play and not ideal for real-world tasks.
The guide mentioned that the uncore should stay within 200-300MHz of the CPU multiplier, but it seems outdated. With my current settings, I'm planning to switch to adaptive mode for both Vcore and Vring, enable EIST, and unlock cores individually for better control.
Lastly, I'm not sure if all cores need the same multiplier after tuning. I'm also curious about adjusting Turbo Boost in BIOS—do I have to change it post-OC or can I leave it as is? Any tips would be invaluable.
