Hi, your router keeps losing its configuration after a short period and often resets to default settings like TPLinkwifi.net or 192.168.x.x. It also needs manual changes for Wi-Fi password, network mode, and admin credentials. The issue seems to happen randomly, sometimes without warning. I’ve checked overheating since it never exceeds 37°C, but the support suggested replacing it. Could there be a firmware update or a hardware problem?

Which release of the MR3420 are you using? Are you installing the newest official firmware from TP-Link? If yes, reset the router to its default settings through the admin panel, upload the latest firmware (even if it matches the current version), and then restore defaults after rebooting. What they seem to imply is that this model uses outdated technology—WiFi 4 with only 100Mbps ports. Recent reviews on Newegg indicate more issues than successes. If TP-Link suggests replacing it as a fix, it likely points to a problem that won't be resolved.

It's version 5.00000002 or should I look elsewhere?
Yes, the newest official firmware (1.5.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 210319 Rel.39726n) is available. I reset it to factory settings, installed the latest file, and then performed another factory reset. Results seem encouraging. I'll share updates once issues arise. Regardless of the network type, it worked well for me. I mostly used it as a switch rather than an AP, and with internet speeds around 15Mbps it didn't affect my decision. If I had funds, I'd choose something more reliable, affordable, and easy to get in Poland—most stores carry Tp-link, Chinesium, and Asus, which tend to be pricier.

You just experienced a failure after 100 minutes of stable connection, then it dropped again. Likely the power adapter is the issue—this component hasn’t been checked yet.
