Need assistance with setting up an LLC in Asus X570 BIOS?
I recently upgraded my whole rig with a Ryzen 3700X and an Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming motherboard (along with other components). So far, everything is working well and I've been enjoying adjusting, overclocking, and benchmarking it. Until now, I kept my LLC setting to 'Auto' in the BIOS, as this mode has proven stable and performed excellently with my memory overclocks. But today, I decided to experiment a bit more with the LLC settings, just out of curiosity and to understand what Asus's 'Auto' setting actually does (i.e., what LLC level it was set to).
I started adjusting the LLC levels manually in the BIOS, for both the CPU LLC and SOC LLC. However, when I booted into Windows and ran stress tests and benchmarks, trying to track voltage changes at each LLC level, I found that the CPU core voltage and VCORE didn't change at all from one test to another. I tested every single LLC level available in the Asus BIOS (from 1 to 5) and regardless of the setting I applied, the voltages remained constant when the system was under load. Even the SOC voltage stayed fixed at 1.087v (the 1.1v value set in the BIOS), whether the system was idle or under heavy load.
So what's going on here?
What I've tried:
1) Changed the Asus 'Performance Enhancer' from 'Auto' to 'Default'—no effect on Vdroop. Then switched to 'Level 1', 'Level 2', etc., but nothing changed.
2) Set only the CPU LLC manually while keeping SOC in 'Auto'—still no change in idle voltage or Vdroop under load.
3) Manually adjusted all settings in the Digi+ VRM section of the BIOS, instead of leaving some as 'Auto'—still nothing happened.
4) Tried PBO Auto versus PBO Disabled—no improvement.
5) Also experimented with changing every setting in the bios manually, not just leaving some as 'Auto'—nothing altered.
I'm running out of options and growing a bit worried that this feature isn't functioning properly. Without proper LLC settings, I won't be able to perform certain tasks, such as overclocking my CPU. Do any of you have encountered similar issues with this motherboard (Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming) or other Asus X570 boards? If so, did anyone manage to resolve it?
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
LLc operates solely through manual voltage adjustments; auto mode does not alter settings.
