Hi, I see you're facing screen tearing while playing CS:GO on your new gaming PC. Since you have AMD Radeon software, it might help to check the settings and ensure they match your monitor's capabilities. Also, verify that your display is calibrated correctly and consider adjusting your refresh rate or resolution if needed. Let me know if you'd like more details!

you might want to limit your frame rate. capping it at 60fps could help reduce screen tearing. i usually set my fps in games to avoid putting too much strain on the pc.

Well, it's not that complicated. I'll walk you through it. On monitors, frames are shown at different rates: 60Hz every 16.67ms, 75Hz every 13.33ms, 144Hz every 6.94ms, 240Hz every 4.17ms, and 360Hz every 2.78ms. For around 170fps, new frames arrive roughly every 5.88ms. Since you see frames every 16.67ms, the change won't be noticeable much. The improvement is better than screen tearing, I think. I hope this clarifies things—capping your FPS probably won't have a big impact. I've also heard it can stop screen tearing.

I don't know if this would work, but I wonder if limiting your framerate to 120 FPS (exactly double your refresh rate) would reduce or stop the tearing, since the refresh cycles would match up to frames at a clean 2:1. (Or maybe that only means the tear will always be dead-center on screen... ) Just something to try, I guess. To my knowledge there isn't really a "fix" though. If your framerate exceeds your monitor's refresh rate, you'll often see tearing.

For a competitive gaming setup, you should consider upgrading to a 60 Hz monitor. It’s important to note that the input lag might be higher on such displays, which could affect performance.
