Currently you have 8GB DDR4 Corsair CMK8GX4M1A240016R, upgrading to 16GB DDR4 should work fine. Just check compatibility with your motherboard.

It should function properly overall, though combining different parts might have varying results. Most of the time it will work as expected.

Ensure you use the same module to reduce compatibility problems.

This topic is commonly asked by beginners, especially when unsure about dual channel vs single channel setups and matching RAM types.

Hello, welcome back. I wanted to check in about RAM as well. Yesterday I upgraded from 16GB to 32GB at 3200MHz, using the same brand and timing. I noticed some delays and import lags, so I also updated my BIOS. Could anyone confirm if your RAM is acting as a bottleneck? Here’s the system info: i7-8700K Intel, ROG Strix Z390 Gaming MMO, NVMe Samsung EVO 500GB, GTX 1080 Ti 11GB OC.
