Good news: better than the LPX sticks Bad news: the xmp profile on those sticks is a coin toss whether it'll work on with that setup (I had a set of lpx 3200 c16 sticks, a 2600x, and a b450 pro4 board.) 1. Make sure you are running the newest bios that still supports the 2600 (some revisions may drop support for ryzen 2000 and older) 2. If the sticks are still not booting at the xmp profile: you'll want 16-18-18-36 timings at 1.375v @2866mhz (2933 may work, ymmv) the memory controller on the 2600 is hit or miss: some are really good, some aren't. My 2600x was able to do 2933 at like 98% stability, I ended up dropping to 2866 because I didn't want to keep dealing with a 1 in 100 bsod.
Thanks for the update. I checked the ASrock website again—no problems with booting or XMP settings. I made sure everything was saved properly. There seems to be no issue with using A1 and B1 slots for dual-channel, but the supported speeds are reduced. It looks like only those two slots work on my motherboard, which is frustrating.
Which BIOS revision are you using right now? You’re currently on version 4.20, which worked well for me. You should be able to achieve similar speeds whether you’re running a1b1 or a2b2—just make sure there’s sufficient voltage. Give it a shot with those settings and check for stable performance.
I returned to the a2 and b2 slots, and my hardware reservation issue disappeared instantly! Running at 2933 with the timings and voltage you mentioned works perfectly. Should I consider increasing it to 3200 with the Ryzen 5 2600?
I never managed to exceed 2933 with any kind of stability. I reached just above it once, but it was only about 10% stable and I was nearly hitting 1.4v, which isn't great. A few others have managed 3200 on a Ryzen 2000, though that's rare. I can't promise stability at 2933, but if it fails: falling back to 2866 should work (you might encounter BSOD occasionally because Windows is pretty unstable).
