The changes aren’t completely free. You’re essentially paying for the software through their current payment system, which means you don’t own the product. You’ll need to rely on their "cloud services," something I’m not interested in. I see this from a business perspective, but it doesn’t sit well with me.

Photoshop offers capabilities beyond what SAI provides, yet SAI remains an impressive tool.

Probably work well when used correctly and regularly, but for others copying is the only option

Each program serves different purposes and works best for different people. Personally, CS6 is mainly useful for creating fancy text or handling alpha layers in TGA files. For artists, Photoshop falls short in those areas despite its cost. Honestly, if the developers of SAI added more features people rely on like Photoshop did, and made it work on both macOS and Linux, I’d definitely support them with a purchase.

You need to purchase CS6 for around $600. I only pay for CC and receive it together with Premiere and After Effects.

Adobe isn't the sole shift toward paid software. I believe 3DSMax is also offered via subscription. This change seems natural rather than exploitative; it broadens access for those who can't afford it, especially pirates, while still allowing continued purchases of older versions like CS6.

There are numerous affordable yet effective tools available, but professionals remain hesitant to switch. This leads to Adobe maintaining a near-monopoly, allowing them to keep prices high despite the software being far simpler than Windows' most expensive version.
