Hey! Your old system has a Celeron 2.4 GHz CPU and you're looking to upgrade to a Pentium 4. The specs you mentioned—1 core, 2 threads, 3.00 GHz base frequency, 800 MHz front side bus—match what you'd expect for a Pentium 4. Since it supports hyperthreading and has a compatible socket (PPGA478), it should work fine. Just make sure the motherboard is still compatible with your age and that you're not missing any newer features. You're definitely younger than the board, so you're good to go!

Thanks for the update! After checking, the model number SL7P confirms it's a P4 530. The price around three dollars makes it a good opportunity to test.

This processor isn't listed in the motherboard compatibility guide. The user manual indicates official support for 533MHz FSB CPUs, but suggests it can run at 800 MHz via overclocking—possibly with a slight reduction. Given the price of around $3, it might not be worth the risk unless you're willing to try an underclock.

I verified and didn't see it on the list, but it has the same CPU specs but faster clock speeds. I'll give it a shot—it shouldn't be a big issue. I also have two other 478 boards; one should work with it. Appreciate the help!

Sure, I can help with that. Look for a tool that lets you adjust fan speeds and is compatible with Windows XP.
