Need assistance with PCIE on your Dell G5?
I purchased a ready-made Dell G5 5090 gaming PC. I'm attempting to connect an internal capture card into the PCIe X1 port, but it doesn't show up at all. I've tried all PCIe slots except the X16 one (since I need that for my GPU to connect to the monitor), but still nothing. My CPU is an Intel i7 9700, which has 16 lanes and connects directly to the CPU, which is fine. However, I suspect my motherboard's chipset might be H370, which should support 20 lanes, yet it doesn't recognize the card. I believe my M.2 SSD (256GB) likely uses 4 lanes, along with a 2TB HDD. Are you expecting this setup to work as described in a Reddit thread? They mentioned my chipset only has 4 PCIe lanes, possibly limiting the M.2 slot usage. Could you clarify any details I might have missed?
Is that correct? The capture card is X4, and it doesn't fit into the X1 slot.
Following my purchase of the 5090 at the end of last year, I can share that you’ll need Dell to set it up. Their assistance is quite poor. The entire board is tied to a particular device lineup, and yours may not connect properly. I’ve been using it for four months now and am considering replacing it since it isn’t really upgradable with Dell’s proprietary board and PSU, even though it has an H370 chipset.
