Need assistance with overclocking your system? Let me know how I can help.
Hi everyone,
I noticed my PC isn’t great for gaming anymore. I’m thinking about overclocking both the CPU and GPU if it’s safe. My CPU is an FX-4100 and the GPU is a GT440 with 1GB of memory. The motherboard is an Asus M5A87. I want to know what’s important and the risks involved. I don’t want my PC to fail or get damaged. I tried running Prime95 for just five minutes, and my CPU temperature was already at 155°F (69°C). Is this really worth it, or should I consider a new PC with better components? I played about an hour of CS:GO and the GPU temperature was only 122°F. My main use will still be CS:GO, maybe some other games like Stronghold 2 or Max Payne 3.
You can find the HWMonitor.txt there.
I hope you understand my situation (sorry for the poor English) and can assist me!
Cheers
Hi Rappa,
Hello there! When you're overclocking, you mainly need to manage stability and heat. Usually, boosting voltages helps stability but leads to more heat. Since the temperatures you mentioned are already at their limits, you'd likely need a better cooling solution before proceeding further. Just a note: standard CPU coolers included with the processor won't work for overclocking.
