Hello, I’m thinking about purchasing a laptop that connects easily to my PC for transferring big files. Would setting up something like this be feasible? My setup includes PC1 as my main computer, PC2 as the laptop, and PC3 along with PS4 on the network. Thanks!

Please ensure your internet access is active. The device should be properly linked to your router for connectivity.

It seems you're asking about an Ethernet wall outlet and a reference to a box. Could you clarify what you mean by "ethernet wall plug" and the "box"? That way I can provide more accurate information.

They remain part of the same network as long as they share the same router, disregarding switches.

The box is the router provided by my internet service provider, essentially functioning as my router.

Sure, just use the ports your router has available and plug in the device. It'll stay connected to the same network.

It should work. You can connect PC1 and PC2 using a switch, even without direct physical access to multiple ports.

When set up properly, it should function. From the diagram you provided, both PCs are on the opposite side of the room with the box. You can connect an Ethernet cable directly into the Ethernet wall plug on PC1, then run Ethernet cables from the router to each device. Keep in mind this is based on your diagram above.

I suggest a basic 5-port switch. https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Ethernet-...amp;sr=8-9
