Need assistance with modified BIOS settings? Let me know how I can help!
Hello, I own an ASUS Z370 gaming PC with the latest firmware installed. My custom BIOS is working fine, but when flashing I still face issues—my CPU (9980hk) won’t run properly. I’ve tried using AMI and a bin file, but it erases and rewrites everything without adding any microcode. I even pinned the CPU to try, yet it doesn’t boot. Can you help me figure out the correct way to flash it?
It might be that the motherboard is set up to only recognize BIOS versions from ASUS.
Using the standard BIOS flash tool works fine, but I can easily update any BIOS I want with a programmer. Of course, that doesn’t guarantee the new BIOS will actually run—most of the time it won’t. I usually go with a higher-end BIOS from the same maker because updating different manufacturers’ BIOS rarely helps and often introduces issues. Usually, voltage control problems are common. I’m not very familiar with BGA CPUs converted to LGA, but improper mounting pressure seems to be a big concern. The videos I watch emphasize that correct pressure is essential; otherwise the device might not even start.
Reach out to the AliExpress or eBay seller you worked with. They should usually be able to supply a bios chip for many boards or offer more guidance on the process. While translations might not be perfect, the specialists in bios modification are primarily Chinese and Russian speakers.
