Hey everyone, I'm looking for guidance on selecting RAM for my laptop. It currently has 4GB of 2133MHz DDR4 15-15-15-35 timing RAM. If I can't find matching specs, will adding an 8GB stick with the same speed help? Would using dual channel make it faster than the 8GB but still be dual channel? Also, can I enable dual channel mode by using four out of the eight sticks (for a Lenovo IdeaPad 320-15s)?

The numbers at 2133MHz seem typical for standard JEDEC specifications. You don’t need to match every timing exactly; they’ll adapt to the slowest component. Pairing an 8GB stick with a 4GB one isn’t optimal—better to use two 8GB sticks, though 4GB and 8GB should still function, especially in dual-channel where one channel handles twice the amount, leaving about 66% effective usage.

The timing differences shouldn't be identical when using dual channel. The required specifications must remain consistent for operation with DC.

They need identical timing across all channels if the sticks differ. Otherwise, apply the same settings in every channel and maintain consistent speed, even if it's not perfect.
