You're asking for clarification about what makes this game stand out. It's widely regarded as the top title in the series overall. However, it lacks multiplayer features, which is a notable omission. For the original creator, playing ME1 is essential—it's not outdated, and its story is crucial for the upcoming entries. While you can still enjoy the sequels, you'll miss many of the nuances that elevate the series to greatness. I suggest reading the encyclopedia, especially the narrated sections, to gain a better understanding.

I believed ME2 faced criticism for taking a darker direction and was called a "Gears of War imitation." If many share this view, that's perfectly fine.

ME1 performs well; try it. In fact, the story of ME1 will be introduced at the start of ME2.

I didn't really enjoy ME2 as much compared to the other titles. Sure, the story was amazing, but the gameplay felt less enjoyable. Probably because I mainly play Vanguard and it was tougher to navigate that one as a Vanguard than the others. I might not have liked it even more if there had been a small twist.

Playing Mass Effect 3 without going through the earlier games isn't worth it. Stick to the original order—start with Mass Effect 1, then 2, and skip 3 altogether.

Top play: Try every game with all DLCs and the MEHEM mod to skip the bad ending, plus complete side missions. Many choices from side quests affect later games, making it a smooth, connected journey. If you prefer action over story and just want a solid shooter, there are better picks. The first game’s story matches the sequels well, giving context to what comes next. Visually, they all use the same engine, but Game 1 looks the least polished. Still, it's a great trilogy made for the same hardware era, so even the lower one is decent—especially with texture mods. Overall, the ME Trilogy with MEHEM and story content stands out as the best single-player experience I’ve had. It’s definitely worth your investment.
