I made several changes to your MacBook Pro. I upgraded the SSD to 500GB, performed a clean installation, and disabled the AMD GPU using the official MacOS method. I also turned it off because I don’t want issues later. Now, your Mac won’t shut down when you close the lid and the screen stays at maximum brightness. Anyone have a fix for this?

These devices often encounter problems with their dGPUs. Turning off the dGPU might also affect certain files that macOS isn't pleased with. Consider performing an SMC reset and a NVRAM refresh.

Performing that action will reverse the GPU disable setting, but it may cause the system to start in a faulty state. You'll need to remove the drivers for the dGPU to properly disable it. There are ongoing problems with screen brightness and sleep functionality, though I haven't checked if any fixes have been released yet.

I located a solution a short while ago but I'm moving on from it. I'm reinstalling everything now and plan to try again tomorrow. If I manage to resolve the problems, I'll share the fixes here for others to benefit from.

Be mindful of damaging the OS too much; if needed, you can always restore a new version from recovery mode.

Sure, I got it. I realized I had the file vault from a previous install, but it seems I missed it. So I reinstalled everything from the recovery option.

The guide advises that deleting the drivers will disrupt your desktop setup, but the best approach is to modify efivors.
