You're concerned about losing your data when switching to Linux. Installing Linux won't automatically wipe everything—you can choose how to manage your files. There are options to keep important photos, documents, and other files safe during the transition.

I recommend purchasing a 10 TB USB storage drive and transferring all your data onto it.

The cost of a 10TB hard drive seems outrageous, especially when prices here are high. A 1TB drive would be three times more expensive elsewhere!

You might try cleaning up your storage by removing unused files or apps.

Currently, only SATA hard drives come in 10TB sizes (while 50 and 100TB SSDs exist but are very costly). Yes, you can use a 16 or 32GB USB flash drive, store your important files there, install Linux, and then transfer the data back.

Shifted to Linux, macOS and all non-Windows platforms *** The solution hinges on available space. If you have sufficient room, you can set up another Linux partition. However, removing remnants from previous OS requires full formatting. Ideally, assess your storage needs and consider cloud or physical backups while repairing your PC.

I would create a minimal Linux installation, transfer your files there, then move the images and papers to the new partition. After saving everything, remove the old partitions and expand the Linux section across the whole drive.
