The cost of a 10TB hard drive seems outrageous, especially when prices here are high. A 1TB drive would be three times more expensive elsewhere!

Currently, only SATA hard drives come in 10TB sizes (while 50 and 100TB SSDs exist but are very costly). Yes, you can use a 16 or 32GB USB flash drive, store your important files there, install Linux, and then transfer the data back.

However, removing remnants from previous OS requires full formatting. Ideally, assess your storage needs and consider cloud or physical backups while repairing your PC.

I would create a minimal Linux installation, transfer your files there, then move the images and papers to the new partition. After saving everything, remove the old partitions and expand the Linux section across the whole drive.
