Hello, welcome! I understand you're having trouble with your Intel i340-T4 NAS card. The issue seems to be that part of the card isn't fitting into the PCI slot as expected. You might try removing the tab or adjusting the x1 slot to accommodate it. If neither option works, there could be other solutions you haven't considered. Let me know how it goes!
It originated from an OEM formulation; it appears unusual and there are no visible connections to known residues.
Other than a different heatsink, it functions identically to any other i340-t4, according to Intel. This adapter is compatible with x16 as stated in the document. https://www.mouser.com/ds/2/612/ethernet...257490.pdf
Many PCIe cards include that tab; I shared a few examples. If that port doesn’t fit your card, it’s likely not compatible with most expansion cards either, which feels unexpected. Are there any components directly touching the front of the slot? Which motherboard does it belong to? Spoiler: it’s a specific one.
It seems strange that it fits the slot despite being a standard size—are you certain it's a typical PCIe connector?
intel claims support for all PCIe slots including 4x, 8x, and 16x, though it was designed primarily for 4x. The tab interferes with the 16x and 8x ports but works in the slightly repositioned 1x and x4 slots. Since I don’t have a 4x slot, I’ll have to fit it into my 8x slot. TBH if that doesn’t work, I might consider upgrading the motherboard instead.
