Absolutely. Or invest excessive time fine-tuning until you achieve a Hackintosh setup. You'll need to ensure you don't apply any macOS patches.

The .iso file you downloaded from the tutorial should work on any PC if you use Rufus to create bootable media. Just ensure your VMware VM is properly set up and the ISO is correctly formatted before attempting to boot it.
