I’m experiencing occasional crashes when switching from single player to GTA Online on my 980ti and GTAV. It seems like a kernel issue is involved, but the game no longer responds after that. I’ve tried pressing alt F4 to restart, but it doesn’t fix the problem. Other than this, my PC is functioning normally otherwise.

I disabled the overclock but it still crashes after just one minute of gameplay. Smile

This problem is common with the 300 series. (Owner of R9 390 here). Try the newest 15.10 beta drivers and avoid DirectX 11—it looks like these cards haven’t synced well since release, and some reports say it’s resolved for most users on the 15.10 beta versions. I haven’t tested it yet; I’ve been stuck in Elite Dangerous.

This and GTA 5 are likely games that react strongly to overclocking (the Frostbite engine seems to dislike overclocked components)

I maintained a consistent 1100/1700 rating on my R9 390, and as long as I avoided DirectX11, GTA V ran smoothly for about an hour.

It seems like the problem might be related to the porting process.

DirectX 11 isn't limited to GTA V; any game using DirectX 11 works. Arc was only playable on DirectX 10, and the issue is a driver problem being addressed in updates. I also learned FF XIV wasn't playable on DirectX 11.

Here are some alternative suggestions. I've rephrased your questions and thoughts for clarity. Let me know if you need more options!

1. How can I obtain the latest beta drivers? Should I get them from the AMD website or through the AMD app?
2. I recently switched from NVIDIA to an AMD graphics card and installed it on DX10.1, but it keeps crashing. Do I need the beta drivers for DX10.1 or should I revert to DX10.0?
