Hey there!
I'm dealing with a really annoying issue while playing Gta V, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Red Dead Online. The games often freeze or the frame rate drops significantly when the GPU usage drops from 25% to 4%, even though I'm using a different GPU and the onboard graphics. It happens no matter where I am in the game—whether in the menu, during gameplay, or in settings.

I've tried all the usual troubleshooting steps: updating drivers, switching GPUs, removing one of my RAM sticks, reinstalling Windows, and checking online fixes. But the problem keeps coming back.

Here are my system details:
- OS: Windows 11 22H2 build 22621.2792
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X
- GPU: RTX 2080 Super (using RTX 2060 instead)
- RAM: Kingston Fury DDR5 2x32GB
- Storage: Game on M.2, OS on SSD, plus a few more HDDs
- PSU: XPG CORE Reactor 850W, Gold 80 Plus, installed around July 10th, 2021
- Motherboard: Asus TUF Gaming B650-Plus wifi

This issue only appears with these specific games. I haven’t found any link to other titles, except for GTA and Red Dead series, which are Rockstar games. Other games—like Horizon Zero Dawn, Lies of P, or Call of Duty—don’t have this problem.

Anyone else have faced this? Do you know of any solutions or workarounds?
Thanks!

Hey There!
The problem was resolved by a user on SuperUser.
They mentioned that switching the motherboard fixed it when they had it.
I received a new motherboard, and the issue is now fixed!
Thanks for your assistance.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
You forgot to mention the make and model of your PSU and it's age. BIOS version for your motherboard?
Did you use DDU to remove all GPU drivers from your platform, then manually reinstalling the latest GPU driver sourced from Nvidia's support site in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator?!
re-installing windows
Where did you source the installer for the OS?

Thank you for the welcome!
BIOS Ver. 1811
I was just making minor adjustments to the post, realizing I missed adding the PSU. It’s a XPG CORE Reactor 850 Watt, 80 Plus Gold modular. I acquired it around July 10th, 2021.
I tried using DDU and then NVCleanstall to reinstall the drivers. For Windows installation, I used the "Create Windows 11 Installation Media" from the Microsoft site and a 32 GB USB drive.
