Hi there. I'm uncertain about what steps to take right now. My CPU, an AMD Fx 9590, tends to have issues under stress—especially during gaming. It runs smoothly for a while, but after some unpredictable time, the whole system freezes and stops responding. I’m pretty sure it’s overheating, since it only happens when it’s extremely cold. I’ve tested it with two different GPUs and seen the same problem consistently. I plan to replace the motherboard, CPU, and RAM soon, but in the meantime I’m trying to find ways to reduce the frequency of these crashes. Right now, it’s happening whenever I run a tough game for a long time. My setup includes an AMD Fx 9590, 16 GB RAM (prebuilt), Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 R5 board, 128 GB SSD, 2 TB HDD, and an EVGA GTX 1080 SC edition. I’ve attached photos of my BIOS settings. Have you ever tracked temperatures live? You can with tools like Afterburner, HWinfo, CPUid, and similar options. There are many methods to watch heat levels to diagnose issues, so you don’t have to guess about overheating. Run a CPU stress test using programs such as AIDA or Prime95 while monitoring temps.
Unknown 120mm liquid cooling radiator with poor fans. Would replace it, but lack funds right now. Looking for a workaround that doesn’t require swapping parts until after the move.
