Hi there, I’ve been using the RT-AC86U for some time now and it’s generally performed well. However, it’s starting to limit my download speeds when connected via Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi. I’m paying for 1000 Mbps but only getting around 950 Mbps on Ethernet these days. Recently, it’s been capping itself at 80-90 Mbps even though everything seems fine. It used to do this automatically during a router firmware update, but now it does it without any available updates. I can try restarting the router, but that happens too often to be practical. I’ve turned off QoS and the firewall, but I’m not sure why it keeps doing this or how to fix it permanently. It only affects download speeds, while upload stays steady. TL;DR: The router randomly caps my download speed. Restarting helps temporarily, but a lasting solution is needed. Any suggestions?

Reaching around 90 Mbps is near the maximum capacity of a 100 Mbps connection. Make sure the Ethernet cable isn’t causing a slowdown. Next time, verify the agreed speed settings.

It moves up and down consistently, always returning to normal once the router restarts. After resetting it to factory settings, the speed has returned to 100 Mbps.
