Need assistance with dog fighting?
I've been studying a lot of Air Force manuals since my teenage years, especially after learning from my dad, an aeronautic engineer who always dreamed of flying. It highlights how much of what I understand is focused on traditional air-to-air combat scenarios. Writing this guide has taken time because I'm still trying to connect the dots between space travel and the challenges people face in games like Sims. It's a bit confusing when things feel simple in the game but complex in reality.
Focus on steering key, adjust angles when needed to dodge missiles and improve targeting. Aim for positions above targets for better visibility. Missles often come from the sides—strafe left or right quickly until they’re behind you, then flare. Use barrel rolls effectively. Keep boosting your strafes. That’s the main idea!
You and your strafing move together in the Aurora, dodging asteroids and firing shots as I dodge behind another target. With this system you learn you’ve taken a weapon to a gunfight—you must pick off opponents from behind the pack, stay close to cover. Using missiles isn’t effective unless you hit 2-4, which can drain your power quickly. Taking on a hornet with M3A lasers will exhaust your energy fast, and even the smartest pilot will eject before you can finish them. I competed against four hornets yesterday and finished second, showing that skill makes winning possible.
