Well, to clarify, I'm a CSGO player who's been playing for about 1200 hours. I realized I needed a 144Hz monitor, so I followed advice to keep my FPS steady above that. It worked out well—consistently around 220 FPS across all maps. I upgraded my PC, and now I'm getting about 120 FPS even at 1920x1080. My current specs are: motherboard ASRock B75-Pro3M, CPU Intel Core i3-2100 (dual-core), 3.1GHz, 8GB RAM, MSI GTX 760 graphics, 600W PSU with 80+ bronze certification. In CSGO settings I'm using very low resolution (1024x768, black bars). With these specs, I can even hit under 250 FPS on high settings at 1920x1080. People are asking if this is normal or if I'm missing something. Thanks for any suggestions!

Test the old monitor connection once more and observe any effects. Also keep in mind that running both monitors simultaneously will slightly reduce performance.

I turn off the second GPU in Nvidia when I play CS, is that okay? I also tried another monitor, but the FPS remains low even at lower settings. A fresh CS install hasn’t helped much.

It doesn't seem to improve your experience, but after increasing the overclock to 4.3 GHz it began lagging in CS:GO, while running at 4.0 GHz worked smoothly.

Did you connect the monitor to the motherboard's I/O or the graphics card?

I appreciate the suggestion, though I’m surprised it’s not on my motherboard. It seems the graphics card is handling the dual link DVI at 144Hz, so I wouldn’t expect an issue.

Do you have any launch settings for CSGO? My brother recently faced FPS drops, so I adjusted some settings and he reached around 300 FPS again. Here are a few launch options I think you might find useful: -high -threads 4 These prioritize your CPU for CSGO, helping to limit background processes that slow things down. Using four threads means the game will utilize all your CPU cores. I saw my brother only used one core even though he had "Multicore Rendering" turned on, so setting it to high priority fixed the issue for him—it could be the same for you.

I thoroughly reviewed all my launch settings (there were many) and ended up at 200 fps, which is roughly halfway back to where I started, but still an improvement. Thanks!

I test FPS games on my G15 keyboard with MSI afterburner. My 7950 usually hits 190-290fps, often around 250-270fps. Right now it's at 250-290fps, and my 760 performs similarly to the 7950.
