Need assistance with creating an OC for Vega 64 Airboost?
I bought the Vega 64 card with full awareness that it isn’t just a plug-and-play solution for optimal speed and cooling. While it’s powerful, power consumption is high and the default fan curves aren’t ideal. From what I’ve learned, most users suggest undervolting the card and installing an OC to improve efficiency without risking damage. I’m not confident enough to adjust settings myself using tools like Wattman or Afterburner, fearing potential hardware issues. I just need guidance to fine-tune it properly so it runs smoothly without hurting performance. The card offers excellent specs for its price, but a bit of careful tuning is necessary to unlock its full potential.
good news, you're unlikely to harm your hardware with what you're asking. you'll need to familiarize yourself with wattman, it's straightforward. i adjust the global wattman settings and create a custom profile. i typically increase the power limit by 20. set your memory to 1050, and for the vega, the maximum hits at the 7th pstate reach 1200mv. i usually lower it to 1125mv and repeat this for the other pstates, 1075mv for pstate 6, etc. apply the changes and run a benchmark or game. every card behaves differently, but this is generally how i run mine daily.
Usually I'd explain it step by step, but I'm not familiar with these cards and the HBM setup. Watching the video helps a lot. There are some registry changes in the video that let you increase power limits when using wattman. You can push the voltage to those cards and they work really well.
